My Awakening

I have always wanted to write fiction but writing a book seems so unbelievably unattainable. I don't have the patience nor, most likely, the talent to pull it off. Very few people have the ability to write a good novel but oh how I love to read them.

I blog, I draw and I paint to give me a bit of a creative outlet as my job is not creative in the least. Even a short story seemed quite out of reach and then I remembered reading a post by Morgan Bell some time ago titled COUNTING WORDS that described the many types of writing by the length of the piece so I dropped by again to have a look. Until I read that piece I had no understanding of the many types of writing out there that is based purely on the number of words and I thought, maybe I could do one of these!

So, in keeping with my love of vampires, I thought I'd y my hand at my first piece of Flash Fiction which is a piece between 250 and 750 words. In other words, a very short story.

So please come over and take a look and see what you think. Genuine critiques are most welcome. Savaging me for my lack of knowledge on the art of writing will see me hunting you down and staking you

Thanks Morgan. I think I probably have my tenses all wrong and the grammar is probably awful but I had a thought on the train on the way home and just came inside and wrote it all down and posted before I lost my nerve!

I am really mpressed Cheryl, that was fantastic! Have you ever written before? I loved it. Of course, we all need more practise, but thats the fun part and I cant wait to read more. Well Done.

Thanks Kleo. The only thing I've ever written before that wasn't just blogging was the small piece I wrote on depression and homelessness which was more of a piece of poetry I think.

It's great to get this nice feedback because it's encouraging me to try some more

Impressive. I think it would make a great series that you could keep ongoing, and further develop and introduce new characters. These types of stories are so popular I think you would have a built in audience. Cheers to you!

Thanks Lola Tahlulah! With the great feedback I've gotten from comments and emails I think I'll give it a whirl.

The funny thing is, a few people have told me they think the new vamp is a girl and a few think it's a guy. Hehe, I didn't know it would cause people to wonder by not stating it. Now everyone will have to wait and see

No need to hunt me down and stake me! I thought it was a great first story! Very sensual, with the reluctant sort of hedonism, and I liked the heartbeat getting louder with the realisation and thirst.

Hi Michaelie, thanks! It is now becoming a series. It's up to part 4 now (part 5 is overdues because of technical issue which I hope to have rectified shortly) Keep checking back, I usually put up a new part each week.
